Karon Taylor and husband, Dan Sharp have owned and operated Taylorside Mini Farm since 1997. Taylorside was originally located near Vernon and in 2005 the farm relocated to Armstrong where there was more room to grow!
Karon grew up on a farm near Golden, BC where she spent her childhood milking cows, collecting eggs and riding horses. She had a love for animals early on and managed to bring home any strays she could find. She also learned to bake at a young age and still enjoys making treats for work, family and friends in her 'spare time'. She has a grown son and daughter as well as two granddaughters. Her son, Marlon is a pilot with the Canadian Air Force and lives in Cold Lake, Alberta with his wife, Monica. Her daughter, Tana and grandchildren, Jenna and Lily live in Holland.
Karon's latest hobby is making personalized Pet Collars for her critters and she also sells them to other pet lovers. Karon works part-time as Assistant Manager of Vernon Restholm which is a supportive living home for seniors. Her assistant is a Golden Retriever named Emmy who has been coming to work with her since she was 3 days old. Emmy is a great companion dog for the senior residents.
Dan is a farmer in training as he grew up in Didsbury, Alberta working with his father at a local garage. He is a confessed dog lover but he has been found cuddling other critters too. Dan keeps the farm looking good and can be found with a shovel, rake or broom at any given time. He also works part-time as a driver for Ace Courier in Vernon. Dan also enjoys sledding and riding his ATV in his spare time.
